City Guide: Phoenix
Welcome to the All Roads City Guides—a new series where we share our favorite independent, local businesses in cities we love. We’re big believers in shopping small wherever you are. Whether you’re just passing through or planting roots, the best way to get to know a place is by supporting the folks who’ve put their heart into it.
We recently traveled to Phoenix, AZ, for a shopping trip. Over the years, we’ve explored Arizona more than any other state outside of California, and the more we get to know it, the more we love it. I’ve been digging into the greater Phoenix area a bit more lately, and this is how I enjoy spending my time there.

Lunch at Flower Child is a must
For me, no trip to Phoenix is complete without lunch at Flower Child. I always stop for a healthy meal here. I love their coconut risotto! In this case, I am not mad at a chain restaurant. Look them up, they have locations all over the southwest and even southeast.

Then the shopping begins
Monsoon Market is a super fun wine and gift shop that you should probably (read: definitely) pop into. They just opened a coffee shop in the same shopping center called Strip Mall. Also, don’t miss Wang’s Vintage, a family-run vintage shop, also right there.

Take a refreshing pit stop
My favorite place to stop in for a refreshing beverage is Futuro. This coffee shop feels like it was plucked from Mexico City and placed in downtown Phoenix. It’s truly so cool. I like the Jamaica (hibiscus tea). Then go next door to The Churchill, an outdoor food court made from shipping containers. It’s a nice place to sit and relax in the shade. While you’re there, check out Neighbor Market, the tiniest, most perfect little pantry and wine shop.

Now, a bit more shopping
WAY out in Gilbert is the coolest convenience store I have ever been to. Air Guitar amazed me. I wish we had one in the hi-des! Fancy pantry staples, slices of pizza, smoothies, and sushi made daily.

And finally, the best pizza for dinner
Whenever I ask for dinner recommendations, the clear winner is always the world-famous Pizzeria Bianco. It’s been about 10 years since I was last there, and it didn’t disappoint.

Pizzeria Bianca is sooo good! My husband and I went there all the time when we lived in Arizona (though we always went to their other Phoenix location because the wait was shorter). You know they have a location in DTLA now as well, right?!
